Who am I?

I have extensive experience in helping adults overcome a range of mental health difficulties and specialise in trauma therapies, particularly EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I am an accredited EMDR practitioner and have over 15 years’ experience in the NHS offering trauma therapies. Whether you're looking to heal from past traumas or navigate anxiety, depression, or other concerns, my safe and supportive space is where we can explore your difficulties and help move you towards well-being. In addition to individual therapy, I also offer supervision and training for Psychologists and Counsellors. If you're a fellow practitioner seeking guidance and support, I can provide a safe reflective space to help you enhance your therapeutic skills and grow in your practice. I offer workshops designed for staff teams and businesses, focusing on the importance of self-compassion as a tool for addressing burnout and cultivating well-being. These workshops can be developed to meet the needs of the staff team and organisation and delivered in an online or face to face format.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

How many sessions will I need to have and how long is therapy?

How much will therapy cost?

What happens during the first session?

Do you work with insurance plans?

Where do you work?

This is a very common question asked by my clients. But it’s not easy to answer. Therapy is a process of personal growth and can be used to help you with any kind of mental or emotional issue you have. Therapy can be beneficial if you're experiencing mental health difficulties, feeling overwhelmed, or seeking personal growth. It's a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions. We can discuss your specific needs in an initial consultation to see if therapy is a good fit.

The number of sessions required varies from person to person and depends on your goals and the issues you're facing. The duration of therapy may vary depending on the circumstances of each client. I always determine that together with my clients right after their first session. Typically, therapy is either short-term or longer-term, and progress will be reviewed regularly.

Individual therapy sessions are normally between 50-60 minutes, I met with clients weekly or fortnightly, depending on their needs and availability.

With intensive therapy we tend to meet on 2/3 days a week over a two week period.

Therapy sessions cost £120 per hour. Intensive sessions cost £240 per day as you will be accessing therapy for several hours throughout the day.

I offer a free 10 minute consultation to discuss your difficulties and needs for therapy.

To review your background and therapy needs, the first appointment will serve as an initial assessment. You will get the chance to experience how therapy will function, discuss privacy and confidentiality, and what you would like to get from the work.

At this session we can decide whether or not you feel comfortable with me as your therapist. I am always open to provide my clients with a referral to a trusted colleague if they feel someone else might be a better fit.

I accept BUPA and AXA insurance plans, and I'm happy to check if your plan covers my services.

Locations

I offer face to face sessions at the Time Wellbeing centre in Risca. This is accessible from Newport, Cardiff and Caerphilly. This is a safe therapeutic space with on road parking outside. Therapy can also be accessed from the privacy of your own home with the flexibility of online sessions. Online therapy including EMDR is as effective online as in person. We can also consider a hybrid model where we use both in person and at home.
